Our Story

Founded in 2003 by Dan Flatten, Core Building Company was built on a foundation of hands-on experience and a passion for craftsmanship. Dan began his career in commercial construction in 1988 and became a general contractor in 1995. After years of working his way up through the trades, he established Core Building Company to bring a higher level of integrity, quality, and collaboration to every project.

With that foundation, Core Building Company was established to deliver exceptional quality and service in commercial interior construction. Over the years, we’ve earned a reputation for precision, integrity, and lasting partnerships. Our expertise spans a wide range of projects, including corporate offices, medical and dental facilities, life science environments, retail spaces, and religious institutions.

President

Dan Flatten founded CORE Building Company in November of 2003, after working in construction for 13 years. Dan's focus within CORE is managing the company and building its reputation within the construction industry. As president, his duties include business development, estimating and overseeing the day-to-day progress of the company. Having started from the bottom, Dan understands the intricacies of plan development and the importance of value engineering to achieve the maximized effect without breaking the bank.

Jeffery Gerber
Project Manager

Jeff Gerber has been with CORE since its beginning. With over 22 years of experience in the construction industry, Jeff earned the position as Superintendent through his hard work and dedication. He quickly worked his way up to Project Manager at CORE where he now directs and trains superintendents in their daily responsibilities. Jeff's experience is extremely varied with projects ranging from out-of-ground building, office and medical fit-up’s, pharmaceutical laboratories and retail spaces. Jeff's dedication to ensuring "the job is done right the first time" is what makes him a valuable asset to CORE Building Company.

Christopher Weaver
Project Manager

Chris joined Core in 2011 and adds unequaled experience to the company. As a licensed General Contractor in the state of North Carolina, his experience owning a painting contracting business for 19 years and building homes gives Chris a unique skill set necessary to bring a project to fruition smoothly and completely without letting complications hinder the process. As Project Manager, he oversees individual projects and directs and trains superintendents to work toward a team oriented mindset for a more productive outcome.
